The Psychoanalytic Society of the Postdoctoral Program, Inc. is the professional, scientific, and educational association for graduates, faculty, and supervisors of the New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis – the first analytic institute to be fully accredited by The Accreditation Council for Psychoanalytic Education Inc. Currently, with over 600 graduates, Postdoc is the largest psychoanalytic training program in the country.
The Psychoanalytic Society is independently incorporated and dedicated to sponsoring various activities that serve our membership, candidates of the NYU Postdoctoral Program, the overall postdoctoral community, the professional community at large, and the public.
The Psychoanalytic Society is a not-for-profit corporation that was formed in the early 1970’s as a way for graduates of the NYU Postdoctoral Program to have an ongoing relationship with their institution after graduation. Involvement in the Society is one of the few opportunities graduates have to maintain an ongoing postdoctoral experience and sustain themselves as members of their collegial community.
We strive to include candidates from NYU’s Postdoctoral Program in as many of our activities as possible to help bridge the gap between the program and life after graduation. In fact, graduates are extended complimentary Society membership for the year in which they graduate until the end of that calendar year.
